Good luck to everyone taking part on 18 May!

Here's what you need to do to help us break the world record

1. RECORD - Complete a paper register and store this safely in your own records. Allocate one supervisor per 50 participants - all of whom should watch the full 5 minutes and then each complete and sign a personalised witness statement. Make sure you also have 2 overall witnesses to verify the attempt. Be sure to count by arranging dancers in line and grid formations. For full details on verifying the record, click here.

2. TEXT - As the performance finishes one of your supervisors or your witness should immediately send us an SMS text of your data. All we need is BIGDANCE followed by the postcode of where you're performing, followed by the number of people performing where you are.

Example:        BIGDANCE NH1 2BD 124

From the UK, text to 78866. From outside of the UK text  +447786 200 100

Lines will close at 2pm BST on 18 May so don’t delay!

3.  POST - After the event post us your signed witness and supervisor statements along with a CD of photo and video evidence soon as you can. We need to receive everything by no later than 1 June. Once we receive and process your data you'll be included on our online official roll of honour. Every contribution takes us one step closer to beating the Guinness World Record!

Choreography

Wayne McGregor

Wayne McGregor CBE, Artistic Director of Wayne McGregor | Random Dance and Resident Choreographer at the Royal Ballet, has created the 5 minute choreography to music by Scanner and Joel Cadbury for the Guinness World Record attempt. Wayne said about the choreography.

"The Schools Pledge is a fantastic and fun opportunity for young people of all ages to learn a new dance inspired by the Olympics and to perform it as part of our Guinness World Record attempt. On the day the Olympic Torch arrives in the UK, young dancers throughout Britain and in our partner countries worldwide will share a unique moment in time, dancing together and in unison, sharing our passion for the art form we love. Everyone, take up the challenge, learn the dance, teach it to your friends, your class and your school and on Friday May 18th be a world record breaker!"
