About Big Dance Shorts:

Following an open submission process, which prompted over 170 proposals, a long list of 11 projects was selected to pitch to the Jury.

The five chosen projects receive £4,000 and a package of support to make their film, including guidance from experienced Executive Producers Ivana MacKinnon (The Scouting Book for Boys; Slumdog Millionaire; The Descent 2) and Andrea Cornwell (Last days on Mars, Micro Men, The Scouting Book for Boys). As part of a package of support for the film production teams, BAFTA is setting up a series of mentor meetings to discuss the projects and also talk more generally about longer term careers in the industry. Confirmed mentors include BAFTA and Oscar winning Editor Chris Dickens (Submarine, Paul, Slumdog Millionaire), Jane Soans, Location Manager (Sherlock Holmes, W.E., Shadow Dancer) and BAFTA nominated Director Amanda Boyle (Cast Offs, Skins). Other mentors will be confirmed shortly.
