Big Dance Bus

The Big Dance Bus is set to get everyone dancing this summer! Winding its way through London and the UK's streets, it will be stopping at shopping centres, squares, parks and a few iconic London locations - anywhere where there are people who might be in need of some fun and dancing.

The quirky double-decker route-master is the ultimate pop up ballroom and ready-made rave... complete with it its own dance-floor, pumping sound system, compere and DJ perfect for showcases, portable raves and impromptu dance offs.

The Big Dance Bus hosts its own resident dance company, choreographed by Twitch (Natasha Khamjani/Fleur Davison) the crew will perform a show stopping number inspired by a whistle stop tour of London and its popular dance styles. The company will also perform  a unique Hip Hop Hula Hoop® piece, specially commissioned by the original Hula Hoop® brand Wham-O choreographed by Hula Hoop® dancer Charlene Davies and Hakeem Onibudo (Impact Dance). With workshops in both styles the company will have plenty of bounce to get everyone up!

The Big Dance Bus programme presents a mixture of performances from local acts, schools to professional companies - there is also an opportunity to join in free workshops in swing, folk, hip hop hula and Zumba® which has had a specially commissioned Big Zumba® Dance track produced. You can even learn the choreography for Wayne McGregor's Trafalgar Square dance to join the piece on Saturday July 14.

The top deck of the Bus has been customised to The Biggish Studio...  It holds our media hub who will be covering live from the event and sharing short films and Vox Pops on our Big Dance facebook and also a creative suite, where there will be space for creative responses to our event - artists, designers, poets, lyrists, creatives welcome!

The Big Dance Bus promises to give you a multitude of dance styles and activity, from street to folk via contemporary and tango all on your doorstep - the ultimate dance experience for all to enjoy and not to be missed. There is no better way to have fun and be part of the Cultural Olympiad than to join the Big Dance Bus party - We hope to see you at a bus stop event this summer!
